My kitten doesn’t seem to like the older cat?

kitten

Dave R asked:

Hi, all first of all great site I been looking around and saw this one just the best nice one.Ok i have a problem i first of all buy a 12weeks old kitten from a local petshop. and i got a local cat from my local ASPCA he is 7 year old (he is neutered) and the kitten (IS NOT) is a 12 week old female but not to sure,on the sex has yet.

The problem is that the kitten had the run of the house until we got the old cat, then things where not working out the kitten is making the old cat fear the kitten and he keeps running away and the kitten is always hissing and trying to go for him.

any help pleases
has i was thinking of taking the kitten back to a rescue centre. give the older cat more time to relax.

Try separating the cats for a few days. They will eventually adjust to each other.

Give it some time. My granddaughter adopted a stray cat about a year and a half ago. Then about a month ago, she got a little 2 month old kitten. The kitten was running all around making herself at home, and the older cat “pouted” for about a week. Now they are adorable together, playing together, sleeping right next to each other. Good luck!

Give them some time. I had a couple year old cat and bought a youngster. Eventually they became friends.

if the kitten is a boy you should have it neutered. until then
you should let them work it out but put the kitten in a different room for about 1hr. where the older cat can get some time to relax and put the older cat in a room for about 1 hr. then they will
have time to get used to each other but can have time to there
    self too

    good luck

The younger cat thinks the older cat is a threat to his space. They may have had a fight or two whether you have noticed or not. Evntually they will work it out. They may not become pals.
