Jen-Jen asked:
We recieved a kitten 12 weeks ago from my mother (she walked in through her dog door). Luna is now approx 24 weeks old. Thursday an approximately 12 week old kitten walked through OUR doggie door. The kitten is skittish, and though not afraid of Luna per se (Luna sniffs, hisses, jumps back, rolls on her tummy etc around the kitten) but the kitten hides under my bed most of the time–she’ll come if I bring food to her and call her, but she doesn’t really come out. Am I introducing them correctly? The kitten really isn’t afraid of Luna and has pawed back at her when Luna gets hissy. I’ve never done this before, help! Kitten hides and I have to pull her out to eat (though the food is always out)…help!
I have put up signs for the kitten’s owners, but I figure if no one comes to claim her we will probably keep her. Our cat Luna is such a snot! She’s bigger than the other one! I just want to make sure kitten gets enough to eat….
This article will help you! Remember to give your cats some time to get adjusted to one another!
Give them time to get used to each other
Keep the new kitty in a separate room, with her food and everything and give her a toy. A week may be good enough. Spend alot of time with her one on one. The other cat will become curious one day and also get use to the new cat’s scent. They will start playing through the cracks under the door with each other and before you know it they are friends. Just give them time.
Two such young kittens should end up doing well together. If they are both female it may take a while for them to work out who is dominant (it can turn out to be the younger one).
So don’t force any issues with them right now. Let the new one hide a bit if she needs to and don’t be upset by the other’s hissing.
Put them in the same cage it has to be small. This way they will have to stay in their together.Make them eat out of the same kitty bowl. And if they fight let them this way they will get it over with ande done with eat.But if you think there being to agressive stop them.Ask a friend to take the mean cat out for a walk. Then all of a sudden call her and ask her to bring it back. This way they have cooled of.And the other way i to keep them apart for three hours. And then after each week increase the time they spend apart then they will get lonely and spend more time together. The old cat is just doing what any cat would do protecting it’s territory.Remeber kitties are mini lions.
time then they will be inseparable

Whatever you do don’t listen to Jordan B!
Slowly introduce them to eachother, baby steps you know…
