Old kitten playing with new kitten?

gennatay902 asked:

I have kitten that is now 7 months old. I adopted a 7 week old kitten on Sunday. I keep the 7wk old in the bathroom and the 7 month gets to roam the house. The first day there was hissing from the 7 month. On Monday I put the 7 wk in the bedroom and left the bathroom door open so the 7 month could get the scent of the new kitten. I've had them trade places several times since then. Fast forward to today and I left the bathroom door open and let the new kitten roam. The 7 month growled at first and then just started following him around sniffing the 7wks tail. Then the 7 month kinda grabbed the new kitten and I saw teeth so I separated them. Was the 7 month old trying to play with the kitten or trying to hurt him?

Newborn kitten??

Meghan W asked:

Okay well my cat had her kittens Augest 10, around 11 pm. She had 3 orange tabbys. They are 2 days old, as of today. But the problem is, there is a runt. The two bigger ones are pushing it out of the way, and the runt just ends up laying in the corner by itself.

Today I noticed it was breathing hard. It looked as if it had a stuffy nose. So I read some articles and it said that newborn kittens, can only feed by smell. And obviously this little kitten couldnt smell cuz it's nose was stuffed. So I wiped his nose, and turned on the shower in the bathroom really hot. Then I sat in there with the kitten in the steam, so it would clear his nose up. I also fed him KMR ( kitten milk replacment) And at first he didnt drink it, but within 5 minutes, he was latched on to it. Should I continue these feedings? If so, how much, how often, and how much should he weigh, at 2 days? The kitten seems to be a little under weight, and is weak. The mother cleans it but the kitten just isnt nursing from her.
Also, the other 2 kittens are doing great, so no worries about them. Also, I forgot to mention this, but the runt kitten is breathing normal now.

The Exotic Ocicat

posted by Abby in March 15th, 2008

OcicatHave you always been an admirer of the beautiful and dangerous leopards and ocelots? While these spotted big cats can be lethal pets, there is a domesticated cat with the same exotic appearance, the Ocicat.

If you want to own a cat that looks as striking as the jungle cats, then you may just want to consider the Ocicat. These cats provide the best of both worlds - a wild look and a sweet nature.

These cats were actually developed completely by accident when a breeder in the United States was trying to create a Siamese of a different color by breeding a Siamese cat to an Abyssinian cat and ended up with a lovely spotted kitten instead. Of course, while the Ocicat may look wild, this breed actually has a wonderful personality.

The Ocicat was promoted to provisional status in the Cat Fanciers Association in 1986. During the time, the registry was closed to Siamese and American Shorthair outcrosses, although the use of Abyssinians is allowed until 2005. The Ocicat reached championship competition status in both CFA and TICA for the 1987 show season. The breed is recognized in all other registries as well.

xsouthern_belle asked:

My new kitten is 4 months and 2 weeks old. Sometime in the spring I would like to get another kitten so she can have some company. She is a very sweet kitten and loves anyone and anything. She is a tabby kitten. What is the best age to adopt another kitten for a playmate for my kitten?
She is a female kitten if this helps too!

Kitten….?

hick_chix_77 asked:

I found a stray kitten a week ago. She was very weak, and hungry. I bought worm medication for her and she is putting on weight. I would like to bring her inside. I have never owned a cat. So I have a few questions.

1. Is it hard to litter train a cat?
2. How can I tell how old she is?
3. How can I keep her from scratching everything in sight?
4. Does she need access to food constantly, once a day,or several times a day?
5. How old does a cat need to be to be spayed?
6. I have a dog who will not care if she is here or not. Is there any health risks for her that I should know about?
7. I do not want my house to smell. What is the best brand of litter?

I appreciate any advice you can give me.

Thanks!!!!

Our kitten refuses to eat kitten chow!?

Sarah asked:

We are suppose to be getting a kitten from friends, but she and her 3 brothers refuse to eat kitten chow mixed with water and cat milk, they are 7 weeks old, and should be eating food by now! They still want to suckle on their mom. We've tried putting food down and only one kitten responded. We have them drinking kitten milk, but they refuse to eat food. We don't want to take her home before she's ready. Does anyone have any advice on how we can get the kittens interested in kitten chow?
I don't think I put in enough info in my original question. The kittens have been given canned cat milk, and they will lick that, they will not, however, eat kitten chow mixed with water/cat milk, nor will they eat any of the canned kitten food that is put out. We have tried different brands of kitten chow and canned food, we have tried mixing the kitten chow in various liquids, they just aren't interested. So, we are needing advice on how to encourage them to eat something other than their mothers milk.

kitten not sleeping with the other kittens?

goodgirl638 asked:

my kittens will be 4 weeks old in 2 days. a few days ago I noticed 1 of the kittens not sleeping with the rest of the litter (total of 5 kittens all together). Today I went in to check on them and the same kitten was sleeping alone in a corner of the room. When I picked her up she was fine and didn't act sick, when I put here down she walked back to the corner she was in and laid back down. Again, I picked her up and sat her in the middle of the room, she then walked to another corner. Over about 5 minutes of this and 3 different corners I gave up. She then walked to a corner and laid down to go to sleep. What is wrong with this kitten? She is nursing so I know she is getting fed and mommy cat cleans her so I know that can't be the problem.

Kitten with bad gas, could it be that he prefers to eat adult cat food??

Just Jess asked:

My mom recently got a new kitten! Hes a persian kitten. He is a christmas present for my little sister. He has been staying with me (and he will be until xmas day).

The kitten seems to prefer eating adult cat food!

I was leaving both kitten food down, and adult cat food down in another bowl (for my cat). I'm worried that the kitten isnt getting enough nutrients from the adult cat food (or that maybe the adult cat food is causing this terrible gas).

If I leave only the kitten food down will it hurt my adult cat? (I heard somewhere that adult cats should not eat kitten food. again, my adult cat is 2 years old)
