Kittens are very strong, think how well they survive out on the streets!

1. Everyone seems to have this covered!

2. I kept my kitty in the bathroom with water, litterbox and dry food at all times. I also had to see that she and my dog would get along, so she was safe in the bathroom. She was confined to the bathroom until I felt confident that she was comfortable with me (and the dog was not going to eat her), then I took her out when I was able to keep an eye on her that she wouldn't get into any trouble. Boy they grow quick she's about 10 weeks now and is jumping onto the chair and on to the table. Your kitty won't stay in a box for too long.

3. At about 7 weeks she caught a mouse in our home!

4. I feed her canned food maybe a tablespoon or two at a time, 3 times a day. Increase the amount given as necessary, if it's gobbled down in a matter of minutes time to give more, eventually you'll feed two times a day.

5. I did not have to place her in the litterbox, she found it on her own and happily used it and used it and used it.

6. I layed the box I brought her home in on its side and gave her a stuffed animal for company. Spend lots of time interacting with your kitty, she'll/he'll think of you as her mom, seeing that she's so young. They love to play in empty paperbags and whack at crunched up bits of paper. Please do the right thing and have him/her fixed so you don't have to find homes for the kitties, I had to do that with my cats siblings it's heartbreaking! And keep as an indoor cat, they live longer and will be more affectionate to you and won't kill our natural wildlife, except for the mouse that gets into the house!

Here goes
1. If it is a male it will have a testicular sac however if it is very young it may not be apparant so take it to your local vet who will sex it for free.
2. I would keep it in a room where it can run about but that doesn't have so many hiding places, the box is a good idea while it is young as it will make it feel secure but it also needs to be able to explore in a safe environment.
3. That mouse is wishing you never brought home a cat!! Chances are the kitten won't be co-ordinated enough to catch the mouse but just wait until it's older...look out mouse!
4. You should always have a good quality kitten food available for your kitten and plenty of water, cats need a higher protein diet than most other domestic animals which means kittens need even more protein which is why they have the specialized kitten diets. The kitten will self regulate and once it gets to a few months of age you can cut it back to 3 meals daily then eventually 2 meals daily ~1yr.
5. Litter can be a bit hard, best to use something like newspaper pellets (sold in all supermarkets), put some poo from an accident in there and place the kitten in there after feeds or if you catch him in the act.
6. Kittens need vaccines at 8, 12 and 16 weeks of age. Since you need to go to the vet to have the kitten sexed, you could also get it vaccinated and the vet would be able to give you an age estimate. Fleas love cats so it is best to use a product such as advantage or revolution on your kitten to help prevent fleas. Your vet will also suggest regular worming which is a very good idea and should be done every few weeks when they are young and about every 3-6 months in the older animal.
Have fun!!

1.
2. I used to keep my kittens in a small bathroom until they were large enough to move around without getting lost in the house. If that's not an option, a large box that you can put its litter box in as well will work.
3. Chances are that the kitten will not be able to catch the mouse, so it's not really a danger unless the mouse is bigger than the kitten.
4. Most cat foods have instructions on them that tell you how much to feed them. Canned food has so much water in it that you'll have to feed it more to make sure it gets all the nutrients it needs to grow. Make sure it's a food designed for kittens. Adult cat food doesn't have the nutrients a growing kitten needs.
5. Kittens will usually start roaming around looking for a place to pee or poop when they need a litter box. Some will even cry if they need it and can't find it. I used to move the litter box to be close to where I was playing with my kittens so they knew where they were.
6. Make sure you play gently with the kitten so it doesn't think it can scratch and bite you because it will be able to hurt you when it's bigger.
Here's a link with info about raising kittens:

sounds like you need to go to your vet. They will help you with your kitten, they will even be able to give you an idea on how old he/she may be. It's hard to sex kittens if you don't know what you are looking at. The males have a "space" between their anus and private parts for their testicles to grow into. Females don't. The kitten is new to her surroundings, let her "explore" on her own, she will get better. Mice can carry diseases and parasites...get rid of the mouse, trap it something. Get some dry food there will be a feeding guide on the bag letting you know how much to feed as a starting point. Show her where the litterbox and food are, she will go to them when she is ready. Take it to your vet, get it checked out and vaccinated/dewormed, and healthy, they will help you from there. In response to a previous post...don't give her any milk, human milk will make her sick, and kitten replacement milk is for kittens that are taken from their mother at a young age....he/she doesn't need that.

1. Ask your mom
2. As long as IT can get out of the hiding places, it should be okay.
3. At this age, the kitten would most likely attempt play with the mouse and the mouse will quickly retreat.
4. Feed it about as much as it can eat in a couple of minutes.
5. You're doing the right thing by putting it into the litter box after feeding. Maybe watch it for a while afterwards and if it looks like it's fixing to go somewhere else, pick it up and put it into the litter box.

1) how do you know if it's a male or female?if its a male there will be things hanging under its tail

2) when i let it free, it hides in places that i can't reach! I put it in a pretty big box where it can't come out of it..should i let it roam around into places i can't find?no
or keep it in the box till it grows a bit?yeah let her grow a bit
3) there's also a mouse in my house...if i let it out it'll be dangerous for my little kitten wouldn't it? give the kitten a few weeks to not see that mouse then after those weeks let it out and it might catch it
4) i have 5 oz cans for my kitten...how many times and how much of the can should i feed my kitten? 3 times a day and about a a little less then half of the can
5) also for the cat litter box..i put my kitten in that after i fed it, but he/she wouldn't poo or pee...how do i know when to put my kitten it it ? give her like 15 minutes after she eats and if she doesnt go then put her in there every 5 minutes

6)any other tips? dont give her milk unless its special kitten milk and good luck!!

1. look under the tail. if there is a bump its a male, no bump=female
2. you should keep in the box and give it lots of tlc so that it trust you and other people. once it feels safe it will want to come out and that's when you should. but dont do it if its going to hide.
3. he mouse shouldn't hurt the cat
4. the kitten needs dry food all the time. you should give it about half of the can in the morning and at night
5. depending on the age of the kitten it may already know how to use a litter box. if it doesn't, and you see it going somewhere else, that's when you put it in there.
6.make sure to get it checked out at a vet, vaccinated and fixed!!!

heres a helpful website.

You need some serious enlightenment on kitten care. Go to: and click on kitten care and open the kitten care handbook.

The kitten sounds like it may be about six weeks old. One 5 oz. can a day should be sufficient plus a little dry food. Make at least three or four meals of it over a 16 hour period. Do keep the kitten confined in a small, safe place (maybe your bedroom) and only let it out to explore the house when you can know where it is and keep it out of danger.

There are so many problems with this question that I have no idea where to even begin.

Has the kitten been to a vet? Is the kitten weaned? Has it had its shots? Does it have worms? Can it even eat solid food yet?

Since you know so very little about even the most basic care of this animal, do you really feel that you're ready to accept the responsibility for its health and well-being?
