kitten not sleeping with the other kittens?

kitten
goodgirl638 asked:

my kittens will be 4 weeks old in 2 days. a few days ago I noticed 1 of the kittens not sleeping with the rest of the litter (total of 5 kittens all together). Today I went in to check on them and the same kitten was sleeping alone in a corner of the room. When I picked her up she was fine and didn’t act sick, when I put here down she walked back to the corner she was in and laid back down. Again, I picked her up and sat her in the middle of the room, she then walked to another corner. Over about 5 minutes of this and 3 different corners I gave up. She then walked to a corner and laid down to go to sleep. What is wrong with this kitten? She is nursing so I know she is getting fed and mommy cat cleans her so I know that can’t be the problem.

she may be a loner, they start finding their own ‘feet’ at this age. i would suggest a trip to the vets with all the kittens for a health check before weening starts but they all sound healthy.

It doesn’t sound like there’s anything wrong with her! She’s just already showing off her independent feline spirit :-)

Give your vet a call. This may be a sign of disease. However, this he could just be the runt and has gotten kicked out the group. I don’t think you can know for sure without talking to a professional. Ask your vet if this is normal for that age or if it can be a sign of something worse.

She’s just being independent, no worries! From what you say, she looks and seems fine, nurses, mom cleans her, etc. She does romp w/her litter mates? NOW, if they (or mom) avoided her, I’d be concerned that she was sickly or diseased. You know, no one “owns” a cat as they are independent little rascals! ;) Why I prefer cats to dogs! (No offense to dog-lovers, k?).

Maybe she just likes to have a lot of space around her but send her to the vet just incase.

The kitten may just want to be alone, or this kitty is an extrovert. There is no need to worry as long as the kitten isn’t sick, going hungry, or too cold.
